Pianist Sarah Hagen is a sought-after soloist and chamber musician, performing in concerts across Canada as well as in the United States, France, Italy, Germany and Sweden. She currently makes her home and studio in a beach front cottage in the Comox Valley. Her primary teachers and mentors were Glen Montgomery, Jamie Parker, Gregory Chaverdian and Christine Purvis. At the world-renowned Banff Centre for the Arts, Sarah has completed numerous residencies and held the position of collaborative pianist. She is an educator and performer at the internationally acclaimed Comox Valley Youth Music Centre and in 2006 was named the Comox Valley’s Cultural Ambassador of the Year.
She has been heard on Swedish Radio 2, CBC’s Westcoast Performance, Alberta CBC’s Sunday Arts Programme, and has appeared on Bravo Television. Her solo album, Glass House Dancing, was released in November 2008, and her duo recording with cellist Marit Sjodin, Concealed Diamonds, was released in Sweden in August 2006. Sarah’s upcoming performances are conceptually innovative involving photography, fashion, and theatre. Her motivation is the belief that music has the power to be a window into our souls regardless of age or knowledge.
