Isabel Lago Music by the Sea Fellowship 2021Filipino-Canadian violinist Isabel Lago is an active and passionate soloist, chamber, and orchestral musician. She has performed as concerto soloist with the Fraser Valley Symphony, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, and the Richmond Youth Orchestra. Ms. Lago looks forward to performing the Sibelius Violin Concerto with the Richmond Symphony Orchestra in Spring of 2022.

Ms. Lago has played alongside the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in Koerner Hall’s 21C Music Festival in 2019. She has served as concertmaster on several occasions for The Glenn Gould School Opera’s Orchestra. Ms. Lago has participated in The Canadian Opera Company Orchestra Academy, National Arts Centre Young Artist Program, San Diego Conservatory’s International Youth Symphony Program, and the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra in Germany, where she had the opportunity to work with conductors such as Ton Koopman, Michael Sanderling, Manfred Honeck, and Christoph Eschenbach. She has performed in masterclasses for various teachers such as Rachel Podger, Barnabás Kelemen, and Almita Vamos, among many others.

As a recipient of The Michael & Sonja Koerner Scholarships, Ms. Lago holds a Bachelor of Music degree from The Glenn Gould School of The Royal Conservatory of Music under the tutelage of Paul Kantor and Mayumi Seiler. She will pursue her Artist Diploma at GGS in the fall. Outside of music, she enjoys nature, knitting, crosswords with friends, and a good cup of coffee.
