Music by the Sea is not a normal festival in any sense! We bring together a company of artists from all over the world, across a range of genres, with a focus on classical and jazz music.
When the full roster of artists is known, the group begins a process of “open source programming.” The artists review the resources we have brought together and offer up their wish list of repertoire. This begins a month-long period of collaboration and distillation which results in the season’s programme.
When the Artists arrive in Bamfield, each concert programme contains a diverse variety of performances and collaborations. While in Bamfield the artists rehearse works which will be added to the programme throughout the festival.
Audiences familiar with MBTS know that each concert is spectacular and features a great selection of the company of artists that we bring together. Tickets are often purchased early, in anticipation of what the upcoming season has to offer!
